King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia says all atheists are terrorists, and can go to prison for “between 3 and 20 years.”
The new Saudi law defines terrorism as “calling for atheist thought in any form, . . .”. There’s apparently a lot more. Anybody opposing the particularly egregious form of Saudi Arabian Islam is also defined as a terrorist.
The new definition is part of an overarching new set of laws intended to deal with terrorism and also with Saudi citizens who leave the country to fight in the wars of other countries. He especially seems to be worried about his people who leave “to take part in the civil war in Syria, who have previously returned with newfound training and ideas about overthrowing the monarchy.”
OK, I can see he might object to that. Brutal, evil dictators like him usually do object to people with ideas of freedom. What this has to do with atheism, I have no idea.
Note: This is NOT a name-calling contest. King Abdullah and his government are among the cruelest and most repressive in the world and have been for well over a century. They should not be considered allies or friends of the United States.
