Why Is Evolution Important?

Evolution is fascinating and wonderful, but it’s also important to understand. Here are several reasons why.

These are just examples, of course. There are also many other reasons.

Creationists will say these are just examples of micro-evolution, so they don’t really count. This is nonsense. There is no difference between micro- and macro-evolution. Macro-evolution (the formation of new species, families, classes, kingdoms, and domains of life) is just micro-evolution that continues for a very long time.

The longer evolution continues, the greater the changes become until we finally have different species. After a couple of billion years (a very, very long time), we even have different kingdoms of life, such as plants, fungi, and animals, in addition to the bacteria we started out with.
